Garden of Art | Artistry Landscaping Design

This was a new garden for both the front and back yard of a new brick  2 story house with a cathedral ceiling. All garden areas were flower heavy and planted quite solid. Mulch was used to deter weeds. Artistry chose colorful plants, trees and shrubs with several seasons of interest. Artistry also designed and painted murals and faux finishing for the interior rooms of the residence.

This large condominium had a shady front yard with many evergreens that were in poor condition and thus removed. Some of the symmetry was lost. Each side of the entrance then had its unique look with different contrasting foliage colors and leaf shapes. The urns provided a pop of color.

This project occurred on a corner wooded lot in the Forest Glen neighborhood of Chicago. The client wanted a secluded garden space that could thrive with the existing conditions of a walnut tree and plenty of shade. It also had to withstand the abuse of 2 large, very active dogs.

Skokie backyard makeover | Artistry Landscaping Design

This property was basically a small empty yard that was overrun by very invasive weeds. The weeds were removed by hand in beds that were double dug. It was a sunny location with no trees. The client had just gotten a puppy so their initial request was no sod. Ground cover and mulch was too expensive so sod was decided upon in the end. An additional raised bed was created for vegetables.

This garden spans a period of almost 30 years. In that time all sod was removed and replaced with beds and borders of shrubs, trees and perennials. A concrete walk was removed in the back yard (all 3 levels of concrete!) and replaced with brick pavers. Later a small trickling waterfall water feature was constructed. As the trees in the yard grew taller the garden became shadier.

Since its location near the United Center gets much debris from passersby and the large elm tree on the parkway, the client requested a minimal planting and large enough rocks that won't blow away when a blower is used for cleanup.
